So here’s to you – and many more successes together!

The drinks and appetisers had been ordered, the COVID-secure concept defined, the welcome speech written – but then the pandemic thwarted our plans and the surprise planned by the ANQ team had to be cancelled.

Dear Petra, we would have loved to raise a glass with you in honour of your anniversary and congratulate you in person. Yet the last-minute cancellation is actually quite fitting, as your daily work schedule could never really be planned and your tasks were never routine. Overcoming obstacles and dealing with unexpected events are among your strengths. And you have probably had to employ these talents more often than you would have liked during the previous 20 years; that is, 20 years working to achieve quality in the healthcare sector. Dear Petra, in your case that means 20 years being committed to what is important to you, pursuing a goal with conviction and always believing that things are moving in the right direction. ANQ is a shared undertaking. The form in which it exists today is due to the efforts of many people. Yet your outstanding commitment has played a particularly important part in ANQ’s success.

Let’s consider it in the light of your metaphor in which you describe ANQ as a “multi-family house”. In the early stages of ANQ, you took on the role of the general contractor in charge of its construction and coordinated the work of the various groups of involved workmen – in other words, the stakeholders. Then as now you look ahead and ask the right questions, are full of ideas but also act as a mediator if there is too much divergence between the approaches and interests. Your networking skills are truly impressive and you have internalised the guiding principle of coordination and cooperation. You have a good instinct for bringing the right people together and getting them on board. This enables you to play a significant role in ensuring that the ANQ multi-family house remains in good shape and can also be further developed.

Yet you’re not only a key person for ANQ stakeholders, but also for me personally and the entire team. Because you’re so much more than “just” a boss. You’re a sensitive coach, persuasive motivator and supportive colleague, who is always willing to listen and finds a solution for almost every problem. Your respectful and empathetic nature creates an inspiring working environment. We are permitted a lot of leeway when it comes to our fields of activity and are thus also able to take on a great deal of responsibility. For this, and for the trusting nature of our collaboration, I would like to thank you sincerely – also on behalf of the ANQ team. We’re looking forward to helping you during the next construction phases of the ANQ house!
